What are the positive environmental impacts of your product (what makes it “green”)?
Horizon Paint was the first paint product line in the nation to be certified for both interior and exterior by Green Seal's® third party inspection. Green Seal® ensures our formulation meets the stated VOC Limits and does not include any toxic chemicals from their list of restricted ingredients.
What makes your product a healthy/healthier option for the home (does it have lower - or no - impacts on human health compared to similar, traditionally manufactured products)?
The Horizon interior paint is a Low VOC (volatile organic compounds) < 1gram per liter product which virtually eliminates the emission of irritant vapors and odor. Horizon also contains agents which inhibit the growth of mold and mildew on the surface of the paint film.
What are the financial benefits of using your product (does it save the homeowner money when compared to a similar, more traditionally manufactured product)?
- Horizon's durability performance meets or exceeds other commercial high quality paints with excellent scrub and stain resistance. Sustainable!
- Local manufacturing means the product is not trucked from other regions consuming more fuel.
- We also can service homeowners with custom tinting from our local stores. (Rodda's store in Issaquah and a Dealer in Cle Elum) All stores stock Horizon Primer, Flat, Satin, and Semi gloss in all tint bases for a complete color choice.
How does your product contribute to a higher quality of life versus other products, and if so, why? (For example, is it a better quality of heat? Is it easier to maintain? Does it provide a greater aesthetic value?) Since VOC’s react with air to form ground level Ozone Smog removing VOC’s from paint improves the environmental air quality as well as your homes air.
Rodda Paint is the Largest manufacturer of Paint in the Pacific Northwest and we have made a commitment to lead the paint industry with environmentally friendly products. Our Horizon product was introduced in 1995 and has gone through improvements to make the current family of products.
