What are the positive environmental impacts
of your product (what makes it “green”)?
ENERGY STAR homes are designed, built and
performance tested to be at least 15% more energy efficient
than code-built homes in Washington. Using less energy to heat,
cool and power homes helps reduce air pollution and provides
a healthier environment and a better future for everyone.
Each ENERGY STAR home includes a package of energy efficient
features:
• High efficiency heating & cooling equipment
• Well sealed duct systems tested for tightness and performance
• ENERGY STAR qualified windows
• Increased and properly installed insulation
• ENERGY STAR qualified lighting
• ENERGY STAR qualified appliances
• High efficiency water heating equipment
What makes your product a healthy/healthier option for
the home (does it have lower - or no - impacts on human health
compared to similar, traditionally manufactured products?)
Tightly-sealed and performance-tested duct systems of ENERGY
STAR homes help keep the air inside your home clean. Well-sealed
duct work reduces the possibility of compromised air from crawl
spaces, attics, basements, and garages getting drawn into the
duct system and into the living space of your home. Sealed Combustion
Furnaces reduce the possibility of back-drafting combustion
products into the home.
What are the financial benefits of using your product
(does it save the homeowner money when compared to a similar,
more traditionally manufactured product?)
It actually costs less to own and live in an ENERGY STAR home
than it does a code-built home. ENERGY STAR certified homes
are at least 15% more energy efficient than code-built homes
in Washington, offering homeowners energy bill savings each
month. Although the ENERGY STAR feature package adds approximately
1% to the incremental cost of a new home compared to standard
code-built homes, typically monthly energy bill savings will
more than offset your incremental mortgage costs. That means
you’ll have more money in your pocket every month, as
well as enjoy the potential for higher resale value.
How does your product contribute to a higher quality of life
versus other products, and if so, why? (For example, is it a
better quality of heat? Is it easier to maintain? Does it provide
a greater aesthetic value?)
ENERGY STAR homes offer homeowners a multitude
of benefits:
• Peace of mind
– To earn the ENERGY STAR label, your home has been third-party
performance tested, verified and certified. You can be confident
that your home meets the energy efficiency performance you expect.
• Comfort – Tight duct systems,
ENERGY STAR qualified
windows and properly installed insulation all contribute to
making your home more comfortable. You’ll experience
even temperatures from room to room and a home that
is warmer in winter and cooler in summer.
• Savings - Energy savings and lower
energy bills,
month- after-month. With energy costs on the rise,
ENERGY STAR offers a practical way to help manage
living expenses.
