About This Home
The Built Green Home and Suncadia
The Built Green Home at Suncadia is a unique project. It is located in the premier four-season resort community of Suncadia. It is a building site where the ideals of the surrounding natural setting are in line with the green building ethic, where homes are designed to be comfortable, durable, environmentally-friendly and cost-effective to own and operate.

The Built Green Home at Suncadia will follow the parameters of the Built Green program operated by Master Builders Association of King and Snohomish Counties in cooperation with government agencies and builders.

The ideals of the Built Green Program are consistent with those presented by Suncadia, and will serve as the parameters of The Built Green Home at Suncadia.

The Green Building Elements
The green building components of The Built Green Home include:

Site Development:
Limited site disturbance, on-site infiltration, use of pervious pavers and drought-tolerant native vegetation. Trees removed from the site will be milled and used for wood construction components in the home.

Energy: Geothermal ground source heating, radiant floor heating, energy star appliances and light fixtures and higher insulation values.

Health and Air Quality: Use of environmentally friendly building materials, paints, caulking, sealants, and insulation. Interior surfaces which are easy to clean and maintain. State of the art indoor air filtration and cleaning.

Construction Efficiencies: Management of construction waste for recycling. Use of insulated concrete forms and metal roofing to cut down on the amount of raw lumber used in the home and to speed the construction process; use of pre-finished shingles, flooring and woodwork to speed the process and reduce the amount of toxic chemical release into the home.

Surface Materials: Use of innovative, durable, and recycled content or recyclable materials where available. Showcasing some of the finest finish materials available which are both “built green” and very desirable to the discriminating homeowner.

Other: Finished built-in accessory apartment.

Suncadia is a Built Green 6,000-plus acre four-star four-season resort located 80 miles from Seattle near Roslyn; an easy drive along the Mountains to Sound Greenway on I-90. Suncadia resort is owned and operated by Suncadia LLC, a company jointly owned by subsidiaries of JELD-WEN Inc. and Lowe Enterprises, Inc. JELD-WEN is a world leader in the manufacture of windows and doors and Lowe Enterprises is a leading national real estate firm which has developed, acquired or managed more than $6 billion in real estate assets. Suncadia offers two resort golf courses, Prospector designed by Arnold Palmer Development Company, and Rope Rider, which is under construction and is being designed by Jacobson-Hardy Design Group. An additional private course designed by Tom Doak through his design company, Renaissance Golf is also underway in the exclusive Suncadia neighborhood of Tumble Creek. The heart of Suncadia will be its village with small one-of-a-kind shops, restaurants and resident services, all anchored by the grand Suncadia Lodge overlooking the beautiful Cle Elum River. The lodge is planned to include guest rooms and a restaurant and will offer services through the adjacent spa and conference facilities. Suncadia will be a fantastic location for displaying the benefits of green building, with its natural setting and multitude of outdoor opportunities for all.

Ultimately, Suncadia will contain a collection of distinct and inspired neighborhoods. Each of these neighborhoods will be reflective of its unique setting and the open spaces will be protected by the Suncadia Conservancy. In conjunction with the Suncadia Foundation, the Suncadia Conservancy protects, into perpetuity, the precious Cle Elum River corridor so that this land will remain natural and open for generations to come. The Suncadia Conservancy is a coalition of Yakama First Nations, the Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife and Suncadia.
